Promoting the development of highly reliable, low-cost cloud computing infrastructure
NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today its participation in OpenStack(TM), a global community developing the open source cloud operating system that is backed by more than 100 participating organizations that promote the adoption and standardization of cloud computing infrastructure through open source software (OSS).
OpenStack is drawing attention throughout the world for OSS based cloud infrastructure that enables the implementation of highly reliable public and private cloud infrastructure at a low cost. The OpenStack community drives the adoption and standardization of cloud-based services through OSS and consists of more than 100 participating organizations from around the world, including its founders, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Rackspace, one of the world’s leading Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and cloud computing service companies, headquartered in the United States.
In addition to its participation in the OpenStack community, NEC also contributes to the transmission of information, the early adoption and the cultivation of talent in support of OpenStack through its membership in the Japan OpenStack User Group (JOSUG) (*).
Looking forward, NEC aims to capitalize on know-how gained from the OpenStack community in order to implement innovative new system integration. Furthermore, NEC plans to implement OpenStack developments through its “UNIVERGE PF Series (ProgrammableFlow)” of network products that support OpenFlow network control technologies.
